 Betty Jo Chafin, 61, of Huntington, WV passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born September 3, 1954 in Huntington, WV daughter of the late John T. and Gladys M. Mayes Kirk. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Bobby Ray Kirk and Lonnie Michael Owens. She is survived by her husband Jerry Chafin; one son J.W. (Amanda) Chafin; four daughters Angela Finley, Bonnie Clark, Marlo Simpkins and Ethel Boden; nine grandchildren including Zack, J.T. and Dixie; four great grandchildren; two brothers Charles (Crystal) Mayes and Ronnie (Marian) Kirk; and several nieces and nephews including Ronnie Kirk. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Betty Jo was loved so much by her brothers and being the only girl got her all that protectiveness form them. Ronnie and I have always been close to her and while she will be greatly missed, we are thankful she is no longer suffering. We love you sis and you will be with us always.

Betty will be missed by many. She was more like a sister to me then a sister in law. I have known her for 40 years and while we had good times and bad, we loved each other. I know JW was her world and I felt like a 2nd mom to him when he was younger as he and LIL Ronnie was so close in age and we did so many things together. You did your mom proud JW and know she is always in your heart.

Dearest Jerry and all the girls,
My heart aches for you at this time. She was much too young to be taken. Though I am sure God has a plan for everything. She was such a beautiful and kind woman to us always. She will be missed by many. We love you all like family.
