1927 - 2016
Robert Leon Wood, 88 years of age, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed on the afternoon of January 3, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Melva L. Wood; two sons, Robert A. and Elmer W. (Bill); a daughter-in-law Sharon; four grandchildren, William K., Erin, Melinda, and Leslie; and eight great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hazel Pemberton Wood; his four brothers, Clyde, Fred, Walter and Charles and one sister Elizabeth and one daughter-in-law, Donna Lou. While attending Chesapeake High School, he was drafted into the U. S. Army, where he served honorably in WWII. Upon completion of the war, he was discharged as a Sgt. He spent a majority of his adult life co-owning and operating Wood Christian Upholstery. Upon retirement, he spent the rest of his days with his loving wife, Melva, living in Chesapeake, Ohio. Graveside service will be conducted 2 PM Thursday January 7, 2016 at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Duane Smith. Proctorville VFW Post #6878 will conduct military graveside rites. I want to express my deepest symathy
to the all the family especially, Aunt Melva. I loved you and Uncle
Bob very much! I miss mom and dad
so much still! So sorry for the mis
understanding when daddy passed. The Lord knows what happened and I guess
that is all that really matters!
