1922 - 2016

Lurlene Bradshaw StanleyLurlene Bradshaw Stanley, 93, passed away on January 19, 2016 in Houston, TX. She was born in Browndell, TX on September 26, 1922 and was the only child of Amberson and Blanche Bradshaw. Her early life was spent in Kirbyville and Silsbee, TX and she graduated from Silsbee High School. She then attended University of Texas and later transferred to St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Beaumont where she graduated in June 1942. She worked as an RN in Beaumont during WWII. She later worked as head nurse in the Emergency room at St. Joseph’s in Houston.

She married the love of her life, Colonel Horace Albert Stanley, a WWII fighter pilot and CPA, on September 10, 1946 (his birthday) and was married for 60 years until his death in 2007. In addition to raising a family, they enjoyed flying all over Texas and the South in their Cessna.

Lurlene had an avid interest in history and genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Colonial Dames of America, and the National Society Magna Charta Dames. She spent many hours researching and documenting historical data and providing assistance to others.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Cavalier; her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Cherri Stanley, and son Wesley Stanley. She is also survived by four grandsons: Paul Cavalier, David Cavalier, Brad Stanley Jr. and Montgomery Stanley, as well as two great grandchildren, Liam and Elora Cavalier.

She often said “Mostest” as in “I love you the mostest”. From all of us, Mostest Mom.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday January 23, 2016 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment to follow at Village Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday January 22, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
