Edith Hall Barnette was received into the arms of the Lord on Janurary, 2016, after an amzaing life of 98 years. She was born Sept. 27, 1017 to James P. and Arminda Hall in Boyd County, KY. She was an alunumus of Wheelersburg High School, where she set numerous state women's basketball scoring records, including one that stood for over 30 years; 66 point in a single game! In 1942, she married Ralph Barnette, who remained her loving husband until his death in 1999. After WWII the couple settled in Boomer, WV, where Edith was well-known as an expert bowler, PTA member and a Sunday School Teacher for over 25 years. She also was a long-time employee of Alloy Employees Federal Credit Union. Retiring with Ralph to Smith Mountain Lake VA,. Edith soon became an avid fisherman, recieving numberous state citations for her catches. After Ralph's passing, she moved to Coal Grove, OH where she lived until her death. Edith will be remembered by all who knew her as a story teller whose tales provided a window into American history as well as family history. She was preceded in death by siblings Costa, Ada, Henderson, Lee, William, Alice, Laconna, Edgell, Rebecca, Dudley, Carl, Mary, Ozella and James. Surviors include daughter Brenda Sangrey & husband Jim, grandson Charles Barnette Sangrey & wife Rita (all of Plano, Tx) and grandaughter Kristina Rae Sangrey of Anaheim, Ca. A gathering of family and friends will be held 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Neal officiating.
