Larry Ray ShortridgeLARRY RAY SHORTRIDGE, 70, of Proctorville Ohio, was called to "The Big League" on Tuesday January 19, 2016 while in his home. He retired from delivering laughter, love and packages for the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years. While serving 4 years for the U.S. Air Force he met and married his beautiful bride Marti Ann Bell, the love of his life for 49 years. Larry cherished his four children Christi (Dick Sketel), Tara (Scott Fullen), Josh (Joni Shortridge) and Brad (Sharley Shortridge). His home was filled with a love for sports. Larry spent 13 years on the Little League fields as a coach and then became known as the "Voice of the Dragons." It doesn't get any better than Poppy's most prized possessions, his nine all-star players Zach, Cody, Kadon, Jaxon, Grady, Bella, Taylor, Remi and Ryder. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Kitty Shortridge; sister Micki Shortridge; and brother Michael Shortridge. Many are thankful to have shared in the blessing of knowing him. Larry had two brothers of the heart Butch (Judy Worrell) and Bobby (Linda Hollar). A special thanks to Jerry and Julie Love, Rob and Susan Fletcher and many more countless friends for love and support. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to St. Mary's Home Health Services, Dr. Bir/Jan Rule, the entire HIMG oncology staff, and Hall Funeral Home. Lastly, we would like to thank God for giving us our Poppy!!! We will all miss the joy and love that he brought into our lives. As Larry would say "Play Ball." A Gathering of Friends will be held at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday January 29th. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, January 30 at The Pullman Plaza Hotel from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
