Lester Phillips LandgrafA Funeral Mass for Lester Phillips Landgraf, 91, of Silsbee will be 10 am Friday at St. Mark's Catholic Church, under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home, with interment following in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 pm until 7 pm Thursday with Rosary at 6:30 at the funeral home.

Mr. Landgraf passed away peacefully at Harbor Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Lester was born in Mishawaka, IN, raised in Panama City, FL, graduated from Clemson University and was a longtime resident of Silsbee. He retired from the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation and from Schaumburg & Polk Engineering. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was active in Kiwanis Club, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Silsbee Association of Retarded Children, Silsbee Public Library Board, Silsbee Little Theater, and St. Mark’s Catholic Church. On any given morning, he could be found improving his golf handicap at the Silsbee Country Club.

Mr. Landgraf is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Jeanette Graham Landgraf of Silsbee; sons, John Landgraf of Odessa, Pete Landgraf of Dallas and Charley Landgraf of McLean VA; daughters Marie Mote of Grapevine, Fran Svrcek of Travis County, Betty Jean Sulak of Winter Haven, FL, their spouses and Phyllis Landgraf of Silsbee; sisters Rita Robertson of Decatur GA and Leta Suarez of Covington LA.

Lester is also survived by his loving grandchildren Mary, Brooks, Elizabeth, Leslie, Leah, Uma, Greg, Ian, Ivan, Lindsey, Jacob, Levi, Nick, Jon and their spouses and twenty great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Silsbee ARC @ 775 South 6th St. Silsbee or St. Mark’s Catholic Church @ 905 N. 9th St. Silsbee.

What a loss for St. Mark's Church and Silsbee both...a role model for all. Lifting this sweet family in prayers. Sending our love to all, but especially to Phyllis.

Mr. Landgraf was a sweet and loving man. He used to come and drink coffee with us at work. I have moved away but I know this will is a big loss for Silsbee. My prayers go out to the family to help them through this time.

I doubt there is a state or U.S. highway in Hardin County that Lester did not leave his mark on. We should all be grateful for his life of public service and his dedication to his family, his church and his community. Requiescat in pace, Lester.
