Dwaine Alson Johnston Funeral services for Dwaine Alson Johnston, 71, of Silsbee will be 2:00 pm Monday, March 21, 2016 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home with interment to follow at Leatherwood Cemetery in Lumberton. Visitation will be 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnston passed away March 19, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Dwaine was a native of Oakdale, Louisiana and a lifelong resident of this area. He proudly served his country with the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a man of Honor who believed in volunteer service. He was a member of the Evadale Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as Fire Chief; in 1991 he founded the Buckner toy run; he worked for the Christian Care Center for seven years; volunteered for the Bill Glass prison ministry Weekend of Champions from Washington State to Mississippi and served a brief time with a Veterans service group. He was a retired pipe fitter.

He is preceded in death by his parents Alson and Marie Johnston and brother Joseph Johnston.

Survivors include wife Mary Ann Johnston of Silsbee; sons Daryl Johnston and wife Lydia and Daniel Taylor and wife Rachel all of Silsbee; daughters Shirlene Adkins and husband Benny and Merlene Rainwater all of Vidor; brother Howard Johnston and wife Roxanna of Topeka, Kansas; sisters Betty Holmes of Lumberton, Joy Phillips of Beaumont and Melba Leatherwood of Lumberton; grandchildren Daryl Wayne Johnston, Jr., Summer Lynn Buckner, Madison, Loralliegh and Chloe Taylor, Nicola Adkins and Brent Adkins, Tucker Rainwater, Dylan; Courtney and Lindsey Courtney and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Buckner Children and Family Services at 9055 Manion Dr. Beaumont Tx 77706.

My deepest condolences to all the family, friends, and loved ones of Dwaine. As a CMA member many years ago I met Dwaine and although I only saw him a time or two afterward I'll always remember what an humble christian man he was. I pray God gives each of you strength and comfort at this time an all the days to follow.

My Condolences to MaryAnn and the family at this time of grief. You are ALL in my thoughts and prayers. Prayers of comfort. As we all know that my Brother Dwaine is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus!! We will think of him with each motorcycle ride we will ride in his memory. I will forever miss Dwaine as he and I share a birthday. Each year we would call each other to wish the other a very Happy Birthday and this year its going to be incomplete without that phone call .. Thank you for all of your service to the community. Your selfless service!! He was one of my HEROES as MaryAnn is my HERO also!! I love You MaryAnn!!
