 Pastor Carl Merritt, 73, of Ona, was called home to be with his Friend and Savior, the Lord Jesus, on March 23, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. noon on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Milton, by Pastor Ronnie Scarberry and Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Carl was the son of the late Donald and Alice Hay Merritt. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra (Nash) Merritt; five wonderful children and their spouses Carl Jr. “Chip” and Julie Merritt of Barboursville, Carla and Mark Jordan of Ona, Robin and Tim Farley of Hurricane, Dale and Kelly Merritt of Barboursville, and Lenny and Amy Merritt of Ona; 11 grandchildren, Brad and Crystal Merritt, Levi and Aimee Merritt, Joslyn Jordan Snyder and Chris, Jasmyn Jordan, Sierra Jordan, Savanna Jordan, Tuesday Farley Gandee and Jason, T.J. and Jess Farley, Colin Merritt, Ryan Merritt, and Colton Merritt; seven great-grandchildren, Keian and Kylie Snyder, Cassie and Cooper Gandee, Marlo and Nash Merritt, Myles Merritt and two on the way; siblings and their spouses, Dorothy and Buddy Mills, Norma and Buzzy Nash, Glen and Carolyn Merritt, Lois and Allan Fulford and Jean Morrison. He has been a positive influence to many people during his ministry. He was Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Milton until the time of his passing. Carl served many churches and congregations in this area. He will be greatly missed, he left many close and dear friends. He was a strong spiritual guidance and influence to many people during his ministry. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Milton. If anyone would prefer, in place of flowers, you may send donations in memory of Pastor Carl to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 1299 Main Street, Milton, WV 25541. I am so sorry for your loss. He is rejoicing in Heaven with his new body. I bet he was greeted by so many that have went on before. He was a dear friend to my parents Bill and Betty Moore. Had a lot of respect and admiration for Carl. I used to walk to church back in the day just to hear him preach. The last time I had some quality conversation with Bro Carl, he and Lennie had done some logging for me and while Lennie was working, Carl and I had many good conversation about our Saviour and many other enjoyable topics. I cherish his memory and may God Bless and hold the family in his big arms during your grieving. Godspeed Bro Carl and we'll meet again on the other side soon. God Bless.

Well God you got on of the better ones again. I know you had a job all picked out for brother Carl. You looked down on old Carl and said come on home son and sit at the right hand of God the Father. Pastor Carl was a Strong Spiritual leader for Jesus. Brother Carl was always there for guidance and comfort in our time of need. Carl was a dear brother in the Lord and another Blue Sulphur boy that God called to the ministry. He was a good friend and a good man. And God gave him a good ministry. Praise the Lord!
