So sorry to hear this news. From Scottown to Windsor to Symmes Valley I always counted on Danny as a true friend. So glad we had time to catch up at our 20 year reunion. He was a truly good man and will be missed. Condolences to his family of whom he was so extremely proud.

It was with great sadness I learned about the sudden passing of Danny Pine, Symmes Valley Class of 1974. He was my classmate, my teammate and my friend. I recall when we were all wiry little guys in Junior High up on Dobson Hill. It was early October and Danny, the Skelton Brothers, myself, and about fifteen others had a giant tag game going on around an abandoned storage building next to that old high school. The basement was open and the windows were open. Danny leaped like a gazelle through the windows to avoid being tagged. We all did. Luckily we didn't land on anything hard nor get caught. Danny and I played football together. He was a "blue chipper" and played both ways. Good athlete. Excellent tight end. We both had the honor of escorting the two most beautiful girls in the school; Lois Sheppard and Patty Delawder. It was like two roses with two dirty smelly frogs at halftime. They both went on to better (and luckier) men. At the 20th Year Reunion, actually for about five hours afterward, I got to spend a whole lot of quality time with Danny. We told stories, drank beer, and talked until almost dawn. We tied a lot of loose strings that night. Danny explained why he did some things the way he did and he made a lot of sense. By the time we parted I knew Danny quite well. He was a common sense man. Practical. Loyal. Strong sense of justice and fairness. Always doing the right thing and expecting the same from others. He had strong convictions about certain things and if you shared those he was your best friend for life. I regret spending so much time away my hometown and the friends I know there. Danny I will miss most of all. We had talked about going camping and fishing in the old strip mines. Life got in the way, however I am glad our life journeys gave us those few significant hours to get to know and understand each other so well. Rest in Peace to my best friend, Danny Pine.
