Funeral services for Vonita Margurette Smith, 78, of Kirbyville will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Fred Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith passed away April 17, 2016 at Pine Arbor Nursing Home in Silsbee.
Vonita was a native of Pt. Neches and had been a resident of Fred since 1963 before moving to Kirbyville seven years ago. She was a member of the Spurger Chapter No. 315 Order of the Eastern Star. Vonita was also a retired substitute teacher, ordained minister and a Mom.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Burton Wales, Sr. and wife Gertrude; husband Jewell “Sarge” Tate; daughter Peggy Ann Moore and grandchildren Troy Gore and Candace Moore.
Survivors include sons Remick Coward of Vidor, Victor Reese and wife Ann, Kevin Reese and wife Evon all of Spurger and Orren Smith of Fred; daughters Joyce Moore and husband Derrell, Linda Watts and husband Bob, Tammy Callaway and husband Bill and Vonda Gore and husband Darrel all of Fred, Essley Prince and husband Kenneth of Sour Lake and Paje Denman and husband William of Vidor; brothers William Burton Wales, Jr. and wife Caroline of Buna and Howard Wales of Nederland; twenty one grandchildren, thirty three great grand children and two great great grandchildren.
