Debra Susan Benson, 58, departed this life on Monday, May 9, 2016 in her home in Proctorville, Ohio. She was born on December 10, 1957 to Viola and Walter Pohlmann in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania. She grew up there, riding horses, raising orphaned animals and having adventures with her loving sister Diana Bruni. Debbie met the father of her children during a trip to Florida, where they lived together for two years before moving to her home in Proctorville. Debbie is survived by her four children, Joe Atkinson, Jenny Caddell, John Starkweather and Diana Starkweather; two step children, Brent and Blair Benson; four grandchildren, Collin Doyle, Mason McCreedy, Robbie Caddell and Madison Caddell; and her dear friend John Starkweather, Sr. Debbie was a beautiful person, with a warm heart, who always wore a loving smile. She has helped many throughout her life and her kindness and acceptance of all will fondly be remembered. The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Little Victories Animal Rescue in Ona, WV.
