Jack Murphy GibbsFuneral services for Jack Murphy Gibbs, 87, of Fred will be 2:00 PM Sunday May 15, 2016 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment to follow at Davis Cemetery in Colmesneil at 4:30pm. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral Home.

Mr. Gibbs passed away May 11, 2016 at Cypress Glenn Nursing Home in Port Arthur.

Jack was born in Spurger and was a longtime resident of Fred. He was retired from Gulf Oil where he had worked as a maintenance superintendent. He was a member of the Snow River Masonic Lodge # 385, and past Master of Port Neches Masonic Lodge # 1163, and Jack served his country proudly in the United States Army with the 11th Airborne Division.

Jack is preceded in death by his father Andrew Elias “Jack” Gibbs; mother Sybil Lucille Gibbs; wife Mae Hutto Rhodes Gibbs; brother Elmo Gibbs; and sister Dorothy Mae Jones.

Survivors include sons Steven Gibbs and wife Rhonda of Port Neches, Kent Gibbs of Port Arthur; Step-son Randy Rhodes and wife Brenda of Fred; daughters Cathy Brenner and husband Bill of Centerville, Stacey Phillips of Crockett; Step-daughters Bonnie Taylor of Lumberton, and Barbara Ambrose of Fred; sister Mary Gibbs Davis of Houston; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

April 30,2018 I am so very sorry Uncle Jack is gone. I just recently found this out. He was so loved by me. He helped my DAD when he was sick. Cathy,Steve,Kent and Stacey you will miss your Dad so much. Barbara

LUV; PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS TO ALL OF THE FAMILY OF JACK. HE WAS A GOOD MAN AND ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND KIND TO EVERYONE. MAE (HIS SECOND WIFE) WAS A GOOD; KIND; AND LUVING PERSON. I LOST MY SWEET DARRELL OF 58 YRS. TOGETHER NOV. 12, 2015, AND HAVE HAD A REAL HARD TIME HANDLING THE LOSS BUT OUR GOD HAS A PLAN FOR ALL OF US. YOU WILL MISS YOUR DAD; GRAND FATHER; BROTHER IN LAW, ETC. HE TOUCHED A LOT OF HEARTS. I will miss Uncle Jack. Cathy Steve Kent and Stacey we had real dads. So thankful for happy laughing memories and grateful our daddy's were there. Even if Stacey did like to make doll clothes!
