Funeral services for Ruth Vernadine Welch Cohrt, 94, of Kountze will be 10:00 am Friday, June 10, 2016 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in R S Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cohrt died June 5, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Evans, LA, Ruth resided in Nederland before moving to Beaumont Colony. She was a cafeteria manager before retiring from Nederland ISD.
Mrs. Cohrt is preceded in death by her parents Eli and Janie Jones Welch; husband Fred Cohrt; brother Hansford Welch and sister Vadia Perkins.
Survivors include son Don Cohrt and wife Jenny of Nederland; daughters Kay Herrin and husband Henry of Kountze and Carol Kennedy of Kountze; sisters Anna Smart of Leesville LA and Levea Johnson of Lake Charles LA; grandchildren Carrie Kennedy, Beaux ‘Bo’ Cohrt, Jamie Cohrt, Kevin Herrin, Joe Kennedy, Keith Herrin, Mary Covington and Tara Thompson; eleven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cohrt will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
