Funeral services for Dorothy Helen Edwards Powers, 80, of Evadale, will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2016 at New Beginnings Assembly of God Church in Evadale under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Buna. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home
Mrs. Powers died June 8, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
A native of Lufkin, Dorothy was a longtime resident of Evadale. She worked in several capacities throughout her life and enjoyed retirement. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Powers is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Stella Modisette Edwards and sisters Sylvia Carnes and Sherry Edwards.
Survivors include sons James Powers and wife Belinda of Evadale and Michael Powers and wife Catherine of Bridge City; daughter Karen Marshall and husband Dennis of Kirbyville; brothers Tim Edwards of Huntsville and Cecil ‘Lucky’ Edwards of Crockett; sisters Frances Smith of Baycliff and Sandra Martin of Pollack; grandchildren James Michael Powers, Michael Brandon Powers, Richard Lee Powers, Patrick Lee Andrews, Ryan Kylee Andrews, and Amanda Brooke Stone. Mrs. Powers is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren.
Dorothy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
