David Alexander SmithA memorial service for David Alexander Smith, 69, of Silsbee will be 7:00 pm Friday, June 10, 2016 at Wiley Mae Community Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith died June 8, 2016 at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare after a long illness.

Born in Beaumont, David had lived in Silsbee since 1992. He worked as a heavy equipment operator out of Operator’s Local 450 before retiring. Mr. Smith was a member of Wiley Mae Community Baptist Church where he was a member of the praise team.

David had a love for music that was inspiring to his family as well as his church family. This will live on forever in the hearts of his children and grandchildren

David also loved horses and had a natural gift for breaking a horse. But his love for music and horses didn’t compare to his love for his family. David was a wonderful husband and father, always kind and patient with his children and grandchildren, enjoying every moment spent with them.

David is preceded in death by his parents Adam and Peggy Carroll Smith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Elaine Womack Smith of Silsbee; sons Donald W. Smith and wife Christi of Silsbee, Ronald W. Smith of Dallas and D. Adam Smith and wife Kay of Silsbee; daughter Buffie L. Smith-Wilke and husband ‘Buddy’ of Silsbee; sister Audrey Fischer of Lumberton; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one on the way.
