Gordon L Dennison, 85, of Proctorville, Ohio, died Sunday June 12th at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV of pneumonia. Mr. Dennison was preceded in death by his father Ernest Dennison, mother Hazel Carpenter Dennison, first wife Joann Lemley Dennison, daughter Ellen Dennison Blake, and two brothers Earl Dennison and Donald Dennison. Mr. Dennison is survived by his wife of 33 years, Norma Dennison, daughter Diane Dennison Foss and her husband Mike, son Nathaniel Dennison and his wife Reagan. He also leaves behind four grand children Tony Blake, Eric Blake, Sara Blake Smithers, and Jonathan Foss, and two great grandchildren. Mr. Dennison also is survived by seven siblings, sisters, Maxine Whitley, Sandra Rose, Linda Bailey, and brothers Jay, Fred, Carol, and Paul, including many nieces and nephews. Gordon is an Army veteran of the Korean War, and served honorably stateside. He grew up in Chesapeake, Ohio and lived most of his adult life in Proctorville, Ohio. Gordon is a member of the Rome Church of Christ. Gordon had many jobs during his lifetime but mainly was known for his years of service at what is currently USS Steele as a machinist, from which he retired. Gordon was known for his ability to think of a solution to many mechanical problems and was very industrious both at home and work. Gordon loved travel, photography, cooking, working on his house, and his vegetable garden. Gordon didn't know a stranger and he especially loved to talk and visit with friends and new acquaintances. He loved his family so very much. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday June 15, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
