1938 - 2016

Anna Jean Cook, 78, of Huntington, WV passed away Monday June 13, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV after a prolonged illness. She was born April 15, 1938 in Sias, WV to the late Jessie and Myrtle Adkins Hill. A 1956 graduate from Man High School, she married Paul Cook in 1957, and gave birth to her only child, Daniel Frederick Cook, a year later. She was employed as a clerk at Perry Norvel Shoe Factory and as a bookkeeper for Quality Fruit and Produce. Nothing was as important to Anna Jean than her family. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing with her siblings, and she loved sharing stories about her past with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Much of her life was devoted to caring for family members, including her mother, father, and brother. Anna Jean was also active in the PTA, Cub Scouts, and Little League baseball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Paul Cook; two brothers Dwight D. Hill and Larry W. Hill; and one sister Barbara Sue Carter. Anna Jean is survived by her long-time companion, Ray Cooper, her son Daniel (Helen) Cook; her grandchildren Mandi (Jason) Paul, Timothy Cook, and Katherine (Mike) Johnson; three great grandchildren Ian Cook, Braiden Cook, and Alexander Johnson; one sister Laura Ann Hill and her partner Donna Chapman; three nieces Kimberly Clayton, Kristina Hamilton, and Terri Hill; and one nephew Danny Hill. Anna Jean’s family, who live in PA, would like to express their gratitude to Alah Spurlock and Amie Spurlock for the hours of care and companionship they provided at the end of her life. Anna Jean was touched by their kindness and friendship. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday June 18, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. You have gave so much in the past 40 years. Your son as you know is one in a million He was proud to call you mom. I was honored to call you that myself. We have had many talks, shared lots of stories, had many disagreements, nursed each other back to health. I miss our talks sitting in your bed,how we would look at each other and start laughing. You were ever so kind hearted. We will forever miss your amazing Christmas gifts. Your stories will carry on and on. Rest peacefully Granny, I love you. Good night Granny.
