Georgia B. Jackson WinkfieldGeorgia B. Jackson Winkfield, 88 of Huntington, WV entered heaven Wednesday July 13, 2016. She was born on September 10, 1927 to the late George B. and Louise B. Jackson in Marfrance, WV. In her early years Georgia was an active member of the Rome Baptist Church of Leslie, WV where she served as a member of the mission ministry, pastor’s aide committee, and youth advisory committee. Georgia had a special compassion for children, she opened her home and heart to all the children in the community. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,” (Matthew 25:35) that was the life Georgia Winkfield lived and instilled in her children. The union of Georgia and the late Robert “Luther” Winkfield was blessed with 10 children. Dallas, Vickie, Drema, Carl, Sam, Joyce, Doll, Wade, Vanessa, and Sweetie.

In 1996, Georgia moved to Huntington, WV where she became a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Huntington. She served as a dedicated member of the Willing Workers, Women’s Ministries and Deaconess Ministries. Deaconess Winkfield enjoyed noon day Bible Study with her dear friend Bessie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her son George L. “Dallas” Winkfield, daughters Veronica “Doll” Bowles, Janis “Sweetie” Winkfield. She leaves to celebrate her home-going, four daughters and three sons, Victoria (William) Smith, Drema Winkfield, Joyce Lee, Sam Winkfield and Wade Winkfield, all of Huntington, Vanessa Sensabaugh of South Point, Ohio and Carl (Mary) Winkfield of Leslie, WV and a devoted son-in-law Rev. Simuel “Antione” Bowles. Georgia was blessed with 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren who was affectionately called her “Mus” and a host of other relatives, and friends.

In the words of Georgia “God can do anything but FAIL”. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Janis Winkfield Scholarship at Marshall University or Hospice of Huntington will be greatly appreciated. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Saturday, July 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 801 6th Avenue Huntington, WV with Pastor Donte’ L. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Earlier today I was led to look up Rome Baptist on the internet...As a result I came across your Mom's obituary...I was quite surprised...May God Bless you and keep all of you in His Care...

We are sorry we could not be with you for the funeral. We really wanted to be there but we had something already scheduled for out of state. We missed seeing you all. We have been praying for the family. By the way, loved the hat your Mom is wearing in her picture. Makes her look like the special person she was. May you all have peace knowing that you did the best for her that was possible. She was constantly with family and you saw that she had everything she needed.
