Mary Lou Litzenberger Brummitt of Ashland, widow of Gregory G. Brummitt, departed this life on July 16, 2016, to walk with her Lord and Savior in heaven.

Mrs. Brummitt was born to her earthly parents the late John B. and Charlien Byington Litzenberger on Aug. 11, 1947, in Ashland, and was born again in 1964 to her Heavenly Father. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Litzenberger; a brother-in-law, Bill Stewart; and special family friends, Nancy McCann and Fred and Grace Clay.

Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of Ashland. She graduated from Paul G. Blazer High School in 1965 and was employed with Ashland Oil & Refining Company from 1965-1974 in the Credit Card and Refinery Invoicing departments. She left her job in 1974 to devote her time to being a wife and mother.

As a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, she was actively involved in Sunday School, choir and McNealy-McMurry-Hatfield Baptist Women serving in outreach ministries to individuals and organizations in the Ashland community and other parts of the state.

Mrs. Brummitt is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charis and John Meade of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Pat Ross and Sharon Stewart; a brother, John Litzenberger; sister-in-law Loretta Litzenberger; and special family friends Ray McCann, Arland and Greg White all of Ashland; She is also survived by beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and a special aunt, Freda (Jack) Finkbone of Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with David Greene officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
