Donald Wesley Spotloe Click for Condolences      Printable Version
2016 - 2016

Donald Wesley SpotloeDonald W. (Spatola) Spotloe, of Proctorville, Ohio lost his battle with Leukemia at his residence on Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the arms of the “Love of his Life” Patricia Locey Jenkins Spotloe. He was a friend to all who knew him and was always willing to lend a helping hand, his favorite quote, “Treat everyone like a gentleman. Not because they are, but because you are.” Some of his accomplishments and talents include: Owner of Tri-State Advertising Corporation, Graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, Educator in the Fairland School District, Minister of Music in the Nazarene Conference, Member of Union U.B. Church, Gideons International and V.F.W. Post 1064, Trumpeter in the Army Military Band, Baritone, in The Four Phennings quartet, who won 1st Place in the National European Contest in 1959. Being a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV was a ministry which he was highly devoted. Above any of his accomplishments or talents, his most memorable times were spent on the golf course with grandsons, Jared Boster and Mason Spotloe, making his first solo flight and watching and attending Gonzaga basketball games. He was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed being with family more than anything else in the world always looking for a reason to celebrate. He was the son of the late Perry and Clarice Poole Spotloe. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Rena’ Jenkins Galloway, whom he loved as his own, and her husband, Michael D. Galloway, a special niece Susie Faulkner and mother-in-law, Juanita Sowards Locey. In addition to his wife of 41 years Patty Ann, he leaves behind a brother, Edward (Fern) Spotloe of Proctorville, Ohio, a sister Jean Campbell of Philippi, WV, father-in-law Fred Locey and sister-in-law, Linda (Rick) Ward of Proctorville, Ohio along with extended family, and many friends and neighbors. He was never too busy to lack enthusiasm or show support for goals his children and grandchildren were trying to reach and at a young age, instilled advanced education for success in each of them; a proud father he was to Laurie (Burke) Murphy of St. Peters, MO, John (Kim) Spotloe of Lewistown, IL, Drs. Holly (Rodger) Langster of Heber Springs, AR, Andrea (Brian) Easthom of Aurora, CO, 2LT Brian (Stacie) Spotloe of Chesapeake, Ohio; and grandchildren, Whitney Streets, Jared (Chelsie) Boster, Amanda Easthom, Alicia Spotloe, Tyler (fiance’ Jenna) Spotloe, Evan Spotloe, Mason Spotloe, Kaeli Spotloe, Lucas Langster, Shea Murphy; and great granddaughter Liana Streets. At Don’s request, to honor his wonderful life, a CELEBRATION OF LIFE service will be held on Sunday, August 14 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Proctorville, 627 County Road 411 Proctorville, Ohio with Pastor Jeff Black and Rev. Glen Carmon officiating. Special speakers will be Mike Allen (retired teacher), Dick Alley (friend), Dr. Rob Bryan (student), Judge Donald R. Capper (family) and Bob Middlestadt (VA Volunteer); soloists Beth Boster and Dr. Holly Langster; guitarist, Dr. Rodger Langster; pianists David Little and Andrea Easthom; flutist Laurie Murphy; violinist, Evan Spotloe. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be in Perkins Ridge Cemetery with sons, sons-in-law and grandsons serving as pall bearers. The family wishes to thank the VA Medical Center Doctors and Nurses who tirelessly gave the best medical advice and treatment that could have possibly been given and for treating us like royalty, we are appreciative. We would love to mention each of you by name, but for fear of leaving someone out unintentionally, you know who you are, in our opinion, you are second to none. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VAMC Volunteers 1540 Spring Valley Drive Huntington, WV 25704 ATTN: Rush Williams where a bench will be placed in his memory or to Gideons International Lawrence East P.O. Box 687 Proctorville, Ohio 45669. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
