Joe Slone, 86, of Lexington, formerly of Ashland, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, in Liberty Ridge Senior Living Community in Lexington
He was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Ashland, to the late George Washington Slone and Esther Franz Slone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Rita Carolyn Tucker Slone in 2010.
Joe was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and retired from Ashland Oil Inc. after many years of service. He was an avid fan of University of Kentucky Basketball and Ohio State Football. In his retirement he enjoyed tennis and golfing.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Dale Slone and his wife, Patti, of Lexington; and two grandsons, Tucker Edward Slone and Matthew Paul Slone.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
