1922 - 2016
BERLIN DALE SHARP, 94 longtime resident of Huntington, and recently a resident along with his wife, Dora, of Midland Meadows Assisted Living, Dale, as he is affectionately known went home to be with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Dale was a devout believer in Jesus and His promises of an eternal home in His Father's House. The Bible assures us that Dale is not dead, but is alive and well in a new body, made by God. So we don't refer to Dale in the past tense, but in the present tense. To be absent from the body is to present with the Lord. He loves His Lord and now walks by sight. He was born, August 24, 1922, in Cass W.Va. the son of the late Everett and Grace Sharp, he was raised in house in Mingo Flats, Randolph County, in the home that his father and his brother and family built. He married his sweet heart, Dora McLaughlin on March 11, 1947. God blest the marriage that lasted 70 years. Moving to Huntington, Dale, work for Sylvania and was a sales clerk for Electronic Supply Co. The Sharps served faithfully at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, Grace Gospel Church, and served for years as a deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church and was currently a deacon emeritus. He's preceded in heaven by his parents, a sister, Gatha McDaniel, he waits in glory for his widow, Dora, his loving daughter, Joyce Warren and her husband Dr. Jerry Warren, and two wonderful granddaughters, Jere E. of Nashville, Tennessee, and Julie Ann of Charleston, WV, and one brother Delford P. Sharp of Valley Head, W.Va. Dale is a genuine American hero, having fought for his country in World War II. He was seriously wounded in the invasion of Italy under General Clark. He spent many months recuperation from the head wound which was a factor his entire life. For his sacrifice as a Staff Sergeant and his bravery in the Army he was awarded the Purple Heart. Visitation with the family is on Thursday, 12 noon until 2 p.m. and the worship service honoring Dale and His love for the Lord will be at 2 p.m. both at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3661 U.S. Rte. 60 East, Barboursville, W.Va. Entombment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Midland Meadows Assisted Living, Mike Sullivan from Village Caregivers, St. Mary's Medical Center, and the Wallace Funeral Home for all the kindness shown to Dale and his family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
