1921 - 2016
Anna Marie Cumpston died September 10, 2016 at the age of 95. She was a beloved and respected wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a seamstress and a gardener who worked to make a home full of food and surrounded by flowers. She made beautiful quilts and extraordinary clothes and could cook and preserve anything. Through difficult times, she was always able to provide and protect her family. She was loved and respected, and will be missed by all of her family and friends. She was born February 22, 1921 in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Jordan and Ruby Waugh Altizer. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Cumpston, two brothers, Earl Altizer and Frederick Altizer, one sister, Alene Hensley, her granddaughter Andrea Cumpston, her great-grandson Stacey Williams, and son-in-law, Marvin Layne. She is survived by her sister, Shelba Jean Swisher, her children, Janice and Doug Taylor of Ashland, Elaine Blair of Barboursville, David and Joyce Cumpston of Culloden, Kathy Layne of South Point, Anita and Tom Eastes of Barboursville, and Greg Cumpston of Barboursville, 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

I have many ,many fond memories of being at your home growing up! the roasted corn ears! playing football. learning how to twirl a baton. I would love to be there, but I now live in Fla. God Bles you All!
