Charles Franklin “Charlie” Burns, 69, of Willow Wood, Ohio passed away at home in the early morning of Saturday, September 17, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones and passed peacefully in his sleep. Charles was born on March 24, 1947 in Lincoln County, WV. He graduated from Huntington East High School in 1965, and proudly served in the Army from 1965 to 1968. He was the retired owner of Carpet Center of Kenova. Charles married his wife, Teresa Gail Sizemore Burns, on January 10, 1970. They are the parents of Angela Gail Burns Huff of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Amy Elizabeth Burns of Columbus, Ohio; one son-in-law Rusty Huff of Chesapeake; and a future son-in-law Nathan Haws of Columbus, Ohio. Charlie was the proud grandfather of Liam, Noah and Declan Huff of Chesapeake, Ohio. They were his “gifts from God”. Charles joins his parents, Ira and Virginia Burns; his sister Catherine Richardson; and brother-in-law Michael Johnston who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren he is survived by four sisters Lucille Johnston, Delores (Roger) Simmons, Deborah (Quincey) Milam, Rebecca (Jeff) Cox; three brothers Lewis (Mary) Burns, Richard Burns, and Danny (Pat) Burns; many nieces and nephews who knew him as “Uncle Charles”, whom he loved to support in each of their endeavors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hoops Family Children’s Hospital or the American Diabetes Association. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with a service to follow at 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Getaway Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio.
