James N. James N. “Jim” Stevens, 85, of Barboursville, WV died on Sunday, September 18th at Wyngate Senior Living. He retired from Union Carbide after 37 years of service. He was also a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara, of 57 years and his parents Jeff and Ethel Stevens, his nephew Doug Stevens his step granddaughter Kristen Kuhn, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Barry and Brenda Bales. He is survived by his daughter Mary Beth Kuhn and husband Kelly of Barboursville and his son Greg Stevens and wife Chrissy of Louisville, KY, his grandchildren, Ashlie, Ryan, Emma and Michael Stevens of Louisville, Hannah Scarbro of Barboursville and step-granddaughter Emily Kuhn of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his brother Kent Stevens and wife Lenore of Milton, WV. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Bill Bales and Wife Marga of Williamsburg, VA, sister-in-law Betty Sparks and husband Roger of Orange Park, FL, brother-in-law Buddy Bales and wife Betty of Miami, FL and sister-in-law Beverly Rhinehart of Beckley, WV, and seventeen nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Charleston, WV. He grew up and graduated from Milton High School. Jim coached youth sports at Barboursville Midget League Football, Pee Wee, Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, serving terms as league treasurer and league president. Jim was an active member of Barboursville Baptist Church for over 55 years where he served as a choir member and Sunday School Director. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Wyngate Senior Living and Hospice of Huntington for the loving care provided. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, September 24th at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel in Barboursville from 1 – 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville at 3 p.m. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Instead of flowers, Jim requested that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
