Jerry Michael "Mike" Miller, 71, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at his residence. He was born May 23, 1945, in Ashland, to the late William and Lottie Williams Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Danny, Bobby, Ronnie and James Miller; and sisters, Jo Ann Forbes, Shirley Adkins and Wanda Williams. Mike was the former pastor of Ross Chapel Church. He retired from CSX after many years of service. He was a Kentucky colonel, an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and served honorably in the National Guard. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Kathryn "Kay" Lyons Miller of Ashland; his son, Michael "Dave" Miller and wife Nancy of Ashland; his daughter, Jerri Miller Green and husband, Bob of Catlettsburg; two brothers, William Preston Miller and Tony (Jo Ellen) Miller of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Lakin Manning, Cortney (Daniel) Conklin, Robert (Staci) Green, Mikal Anne Miller, Zachary Green (Allison), Katelyn Miller and Nick Miller; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kenlee, Porter and Matthew; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A celebration of Mike's life will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Old Orchard Christian Church with words of comfort by Pastor Joey Kennedy and Pastor Jack Salyers. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Steen Funeral Homes in Ashland are in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to steenfuneralhome.com.
