Leon Ramey, 100, of Athalia, Ohio passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Abbyshire Place, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born April 14, 1916 in Wayne County, WV to the late Henry and Rosa Clay Ramey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Avanelle Ramey; son Gary Rex Ramey; grandson Gary Dean Ramey; and nine siblings. He was a member of Athalia Dillon Chapel Church, a WWII Army veteran, and a Mason of Crown City Lodge. Leon retired from Owens Illinois. He is survived by three sons Lee Roy (Sheila) Ramey of Athalia, Myron Ray (Rebecca) Ramey of Chesapeake, and Forrest Rom (Sue) Ramey of Gallipolis, Ohio; one daughter Valeria (Gerald) Shockley of Chesapeake, Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; one brother Glen (Arlie )Ramey of Proctorville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday October 14, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Randy Henderson. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Miller, Ohio.
