1927 - 2016
 Janice Lorine Whitt, 89, of Barboursville, WV, formerly of North Matewan, WV, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on October 16, 2016. She was born January 10, 1927, in Kenova, WV. She was the daughter of the late Margaret and Lewis Hendricks. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Whitt, sisters, Elsie Smith, Helen Montgomery, and Betty Akers. She is survived by one brother, Lewis R. (Shirley) Hendricks of Beaver Creek, OH; one daughter, Jana Margaret Whitt of Barboursville, one son, Rod (Sally) Whitt of Barboursville; one granddaughter, Amy (Scott) Westcott; and one grandson, Alex Whitt of Barboursville, and several nieces and nephews. She graduated in 1944 from Matewan High School and attended Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield, WV. She was a self employed beautician for 38 years. After leaving North Matewan she became involved with the Senior Citizens of Barboursville, leading the exercise group for 30 years. She was chosen WSAZ Hometown hero in 1996 for her volunteering. She was also a Red Cross volunteer for several years. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Kevin Lantz and Pastor Ralph Sager. Entombment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Steele Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund. I well remember Mrs. Whitt's kindness to myself and my family when I was younger. She also made the best pineapple cake ever. Sympathies to the family at the loss of a great lady.
