Sherman Lee GibsonSherman Lee Gibson, 81, of Barboursville, WV, went to Heaven to be with his parents on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 till he can be joined by his wife to care for him again. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Rev. Julia Bolling officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born October 18, 1935 in Cabell County, a son of the late Ira and Bertha Thompson Gibson. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Walker and three brothers, Boyd, Charlie and Carl Gibson. Sherman was retired from Owens Illinois and the Cabell County Board of Education. He was a member of Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Poole Gibson; three daughters, Sherry (Glenn) Harden, Teresa Gibson, and Cyndi Gibson Jarvis, all of Barboursville; four sisters, Leona Morgan of Lorain, OH, Rhetta Skaggs of Hurricane, WV, Janet Shepherd of Columbus, OH, and Thelma Thacker of Fairmont, WV; two brothers, Donald Gibson of Wayne, WV, and Glenn Gibson of Barboursville; four grandchildren, Cara (Tim) Martin, Jessica Wiley, Courtney Booth and Cally Webb; five great grandchildren, Xavier and Gabe Johnson, Lexi Wiley, Ryleigh Stamper and Tristan Hicks; and two step great-grandchildren, Lia and Piper Martin. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church, 4421 16th Street Road, Huntington, WV, 25701.
