Elizabeth Sue "Betty" Kitchen, 80, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, in Jo-Lin Health Care Center in Ironton, Ohio. She was born May 17, 1936, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Homer and Nellie Elizabeth Day Kazee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Christopher Houston Kitchen in 2016; a son, Stephen Michael Kitchen in 1994; and five brothers, Ed, Vernon, Claude, Bill and Charles Kazee. Betty was a member of St. James Methodist Church in Bowling Green and First United Methodist Church in Ashland. She retired from the business office at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland and she and her husband owned and operated Mr. Billiard's in Ashland and Cue Time in Bowling Green. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Liz Kitchen of Ashland; granddaughter Sarah Stephens and her husband Jeremy of Greenup; sister Lillian Pruitt of Ashland; great-grandchildren, Noah, Layden, Rachel, Abigail and Jeremy Jr. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Don Young officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
