Jewel 'J P' Porter White Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1924 - 2017 Jewel Porter “JP” White Memorial services for Jewel Porter “J P” White, 93, of Silsbee will be 6:00 pm Saturday at Farmer Funeral Home. Mr. White passed away February 1, 2017 at his residence in Silsbee. He was a native of Manilla, ARK and a longtime resident of Silsbee. JP was the owner and operator of AM KKAS 1300 which later changed to FM KWDX Radio Station in Silsbee. JP served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents Rufus Tildon and Minnie Ann Shride White; and his wife of 65 years and mother of his children, Helen Frances White. Survivors include wife Carol Dunning White of Silsbee; son John Pat White of Silsbee; daughters Sydney Wilson and husband John of Houston, and Betty Ann Williford of Montgomery, TX grandchildren Carrie Ann Westfall and husband Tim, Melissa Bailliet, John Killion Wilson and wife Laura, David Alan Williford and wife Allison, Christine Elena Williford, Dale Edward Williford and wife Sarah, John Pat White II and Jennifer Whitehead, and Stacy Lynn Alexander; great grandchildren Leighann, Kendall, Janie Frances, Gracie, Braden, Nathan, Ellie, Madeline, Jaden Presley, Lauren, Megan, Brice, and Josie. JP will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr.White was one of the most remarkable people that I ever had the privilege to call a friend. He will be greatly missed by the many people that he touched with his kindness.

So sorry to hear of the passing of J.P. White. He gave many young people, including myself, the opportunity to work at the radio station. What a thrill for a young person to be entrusted with delivering the local news to their neighbors, and play a decidedly mixed brand of music to their friends and family. The lessons learned in the control room and broadcasting local sporting events carry through a lifetime. J P shaped the lives of many in our community. He was "different", and a "character". But, it was a good different and a great character! RIP

JP was a great man smart,witty just fun to talk too.he loved Silsbee sports and everyone who knew him must have loved him also l missed him at Mc Donald,s this past year or so and his jokes but have his pictures he drew and will always remember him
