1924 - 2017

Audrey Rose AdkinsAudrey Rose Adkins, 93, of South Point, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. “Granny” was born February 1, 1924, to the late George and Mary Bradley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell Adkins; siblings Gladys Fuller, “Dink” Jeffers, “Sis” Pine, “Brother” Bradley, Chester Bradley, and “Short” Bradley; grandchildren Scott Adkins, Kelli Boyle and John Adkins; and many other loved ones, too numerous to mention. Left to cherish her memory here on earth are daughters Sandra Adkins, Karen Nicholson, Debbie (Kyle) Gillen; grandchildren Rusty Thornburg, with whom she made her home, Clyde, II (Mindy) King, Jody Thornburg, Donnie (Tara Croson) King; great grandchildren Brennan Thornburg, CayLee King, Hannah King, Owen King, Ethen King, Ryan Adkins, Matti Adkins and Alexander Adkins; step great grandchildren Trinity Cremeans, Serenity Croson, Joey Croson and Caleb Scott; great great grandchildren Bailee Thornburg, Brantley Thornburg and Bella Floyd-King; sisters “Tug” Martin and “June” Edwards; special nephews Bill (Barb) Bradley and JB Martin; special niece Mary Jo Martin; as well as several extended family members and friends-all of whom were dear to her. Though he tried her nerves daily, she loved her dog, Gizmo. Audrey was the matriarch of our large family and was the glue that held us all together. Each and every person who met her loved and appreciated the woman she was. She didn’t judge peoples shortcomings and accepted everyone-faults and all. Audrey was a super-fan of Gospel Singers Ivan Parker and Guy Penrod - having seen each of them many times in concert. She enjoyed watching The Gaither’s Classical Gospel on television. She enjoyed working word search puzzles and did so until the day she passed. The World has lost one of its brightest lights and Heaven has gained one very special Angel. We anxiously await the day we can be reunited with her. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Jerry Galloway. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

This to all the family: I knew Audrey by way of Mary Jo Martin. Mary talked of her frequently. She was a favorite Aunt to Mary Jo. I met her a couple of times while doing things with Mary Jo. She was a sweet person.........Ann Honaker

Hi Sandy, Karen and Debbie, Sorry to hear about your Mom. She like my Mom and June were just absolutely wonderful people. She would do anything for anyone. I remember our vacations growing up with you girls. I still have my scar on my wrist when you girls wouldn't let me in the house so I punched in the glass and your Mom wrapped up my wrist to stop the bleeding. So was truly one of those people that only comes around so often and I was lucky enough to have her as family. Thoughts and Prayers are with you.
