Braunda Lee Thompson, 91, of Ashland, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus, Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the home of her daughter.
She was born May 11, 1925, in Lawrence County, to the late Jay and Dovie Griffith Sparks.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Thompson in 1990; a daughter, Sherri Thompson in 1998; and two grandsons, Eric McGuire and Anthony Patrick.
Braunda was a faithful member of Meade Station Church of God. She loved her flower gardens, especially roses, and retired after many years of service from Coyne Textile in West Virginia.
She is survived by her sons, John Thompson Jr. (Patty) of Ashland and Charles Thompson (Leslie) of Ashland; a daughter, Lesa Crum (Cameron) of Ashland; a brother, Bill Sparks of Ashland; a sister, Nellie Greene Crisp (Dennie) of Ashland; a special niece who loved her very much, Tammi Greene Walters (Ernie) of Flatwoods; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home - 13th Street Chapel in Ashland with Pastor Robert Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
