Marianne Warren MonkMarianne Warren Monk, wife of David Monk, of Lexington, KY passed away on March 6, 2017, at the University of Kentucky A. B. Chandler Hospital as the result of a fall. She was born in Charleston, WV, on November 10, 1955, to the late Walter H. Warren, Jr. and Lola Anne Warren, who survives. In addition to her husband she is survived by her eleven children, Zachary, Brynna, Maya, Mira, and Evan Monk, all of Lexington, KY, Chris (Amy) Chapman, Berkeley Springs, WV, Jill (Kevin) Maupin, Florence, KY, Megan (Ryan) Click, Huntington, WV, Leslie (Byron) Singleton, Waynesville, OH, Jon (Amanda) Chapman, Hurricane, WV and Emily Chapman, Wheeling, WV. Additional survivors include two brothers, Walt (Sue-Beth) Warren, Wheeling, WV and Stuart (Carla) Warren, Hurricane, WV; and one sister-in-law, Kay Grier, Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Whitney, Matthew and Audrey Chapman, Cortlyndt Maupin, Warren and Ryan Click, Andrew and Jackson Singleton, Caiden and Cameron Chapman, and her former husband, Gary Chapman, Milton, WV. Marianne was a 1974 graduate of Milton High School and a life-long Episcopalian. She was an active volunteer at Lansdowne Elementary School, Southern Middle School and Tates Creek High School in Lexington, participating in all areas of sports and academic projects. She was known as “Mama Monk” by students and faculty. Her interests included supporting the University of Kentucky, Marshall University, and West Virginia University. She was also a part-time employee at Keeneland Race Track in Lexington, Ky. The family will have a visitation at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, WV on Thursday, March 16 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at St. Timothy’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 3434 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, with visitation one hour before the service. The Rev. Cheryl Winter and the Rev. Johnny Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
