Janet Susan McKenzie, 73, of Ashland, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Ashland to the late James Edward Workman Sr. and Geraldine Rose Kouns Workman. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Workman Jr. and Timothy Lee Workman.
Janet attended Heritage Free Will Baptist Church. She worked at Katie's Corner and was known as "Granny" to her friends there. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Cecil E. Mckenzie Jr. of Ashland; a son, Jimbo McKenzie and his wife, Sabrena "Shrimp", of Ashland; daughters, Gerri Richardson and her husband, Scott, of Ashland, and Diana Taylor and her husband, Ken, of Ashland; a brother, Tony Workman and his wife, Kay, of Ashland; grandchildren, Jennifer "Niki" Sanders, Ashley Hogsten, Eric Taylor, Alex Joseph Hoffman and Patty Richardson; great-grandchildren, Jarrett Sanders, Ryder Hampton, Austin, Ethan, Skylar and Jace Hogsten, Noah Smith, Elijah "Isiah" Dewees, Drew Taylor and Brayden Hughes.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with words of comfort from Pastor Brian Steele and Pastor Mike Moore. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
