Jesse Wayne "Jess" Kelley, 74 of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2017. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Jess was the son of Reverend Jesse J Kelley and Avis Rucker Kelley. He served in the Army and later did volunteer work at the VA hospital until his illness prevented him from doing so. He retired from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department where he was a detective. Jess was a 1960 graduate of West Jefferson High School in Columbus, Ohio and earned his criminal justice degree from Ohio State University. He enjoyed flying, camping, nature, and riding motorcycles. Jess loved his animals and referred to his dogs as his "kids". His grandchildren held a special place in his heart and he enjoyed taking them camping, fishing, and attending their various activities. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and Tri-State Worship Center. Having a sweet spirit, kind heart and an engaging smile, Jess was liked by all who knew him and had a joke for every occasion. Feeding the homeless and visiting nursing homes brought him great joy. Survivors include his wife of nineteen years, Tina Lykins Kelley of Huntington, his son Allan Blake of Huntington, daughter Alicia Blake Clayborn of Ceredo, his two grandchildren Blake Clayborn and Morgan Clayborn of Ceredo, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Melanie and Steve Simmons, a nephew Michael Simmons, and a niece Stephanie Simmons Jordan and her husband Steve Jordan.
