Cody Reeves Gollihue, 21, of Ashland, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, May 26, 2017.
He was born March 19, 1996, in Morehead, the beloved son of, Elliott and Lea Ann Reeves Gollihue of Ashland.
Cody was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Nicholas Reeves; a grandmother, Regina Feur; and his great-grandparents, Tasper and Tina Gollihue.
Cody was a devout Christian and worked tirelessly with leading recreation, church plays, Vacation Bible School and serving the youth at Oaks Street Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
As a youth, he was involved with Boyd County Baseball. His photograph was selected from 50,000 submissions and hung in the Little League World Series Museum for one year.
He was a 2014 graduate of Raceland-Worthington High School and played four years on the Varsity Baseball Team. He received the Excellence in Academic and Athletics Award during his senior year. He would have graduated this summer with his Associates Degree from Ashland Community and Technical College.
He was employed at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in the Environmental Services Department.
Cody was an avid New York Yankees and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He loved participating in fantasy football, computer gaming and editing.
He volunteered with For Jamie's Sake and worked as a Counselor at Trooper Island Camp.
He was a self-proclaimed Cat Whisperer and an "old soul" with a passion for serving others.
In addition to his parents Cody is survived by a sister, Ellie Gollihue of Ashland; a fiance, Ali Taylor Zornes of South Point, Ohio; a maternal grandmother, Geraldine Reeves of Flatwoods; paternal grandfather, Tasper Gollihue Jr. of Olive Hill; three aunts, Paula Reeves (Steve) McSorley of Flatwoods, Connie Toler of Brunswic, Ga., and Jo Ann Gollihue of Ashland; a uncle, Darrell Gollihue of Ashland; a brother and sister by love, Dallas and Shiann Knipp of Ashland; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Cody's life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel in Ashland with The Rev. Johnsey Collins and The Rev. Warren Vanover officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the funeral home.
