Funeral services for John Shirley Moore, 83, of Buna will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore passed away June 18, 2017 in Beaumont.
Shirley was born January 4, 1934 in Evadale to Shirley Osmond and Almedia Shivers Moore. He was a long-time resident of this area. Shirley proudly served his country in the National Guard. Mr. Moore spent many years working in the oilfield and as a carpenter. He built cabinets for many homes and also was a part of building Dam B. Shirley was also a very talented musician that played in many clubs in the area. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
Mr. Moore is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Maxine Moore; daughter Patricia Ann Haynes and son-in-law Louis Haynes; sisters Maxine Hare, Wanda Faye Gentry, Juanita Levins, and Yvonne Warren; and grandson Michael Wayne Haynes.
Survivors include wife of nine years Gracie L. Clark Moore; children John “Bubba” Moore and wife Karen of Vidor, Cathy Nichols of Evadale, Travis Moore and wife Debbie of Jasper; step children Joseph Menard and wife Julie of Buna, Jessie Menard and wife JoNan of Buna, Sharon McCormick and husband Wayne of Buna, Ruth Louviere and husband Mike of Buna, Florence Linscomb and husband Joel of Gist, Martha Atkinson and husband Pete of Buna; twenty seven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
