Joy was a great friend in high school. We spent 2 years together going to vocational school in Hamlin. She was smart, funny, kind and so sweet. She was accurately named as she was a JOY to all who knew her. She'll be forever remembered. Prayers to her whole family.

I am so sorry to hear this. Joy enrolled me in insurance when I began teaching full time in 2003. She had told me about her situation and I had said she was so brave to keep working. I didn't know how she did it. Joy was happy and wanted to keep going. Over the years I thought back about Joy and thought she must have got better as my Mom had breast cancer too. Joy was such a nice person and wanted to help others. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Joy will be sorely missed at the Cabell County Board of Education.
