Gilmer Odell Hensley, 76 of Salt Rock, WV, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Baylous Cemetery. He was born January 16, 1941 in Salt Rock, a son of the late William and Edna Walker Hensley. He was retired from Buck’s Fruit Company and a veteran of the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Irene Shepherd Hensley; two daughters, Janice Givens and her husband Nathan and Nancy Lester and her husband Thomas Lester, II, all of Huntington.; two sons, Phillip William Hensley and Garrett Hensley, one sister, Rosemary Trautner of Salt Rock; four brothers, James, Robert, and Dennis all of Salt Rock, and Aubrey of GA; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Huntington VA Medical Center and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington VA Medical Center, 1540 Spring Valley Drive, Huntington, WV 25704, Attention: Voluntary Service 581/135.
