Suellen Martin WeaverA graveside service for Suellen Weaver, 73, of Silsbee will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 25, 2017 at R S Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday at Farmer Funeral Home.

Suellen Martin Weaver of Silsbee TX went home to be with the Lord Friday morning September 22, 2017. She passed peacefully at home in her sleep.

She was born on August 11, 1944 in Houston, TX to Matthew and Mildred Martin who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Houston Weaver; son Eric and wife Melinda (Punkin) Weaver of Silsbee; daughter Kay and husband Gerald Messer of Fred; 5 grandsons Travis Messer, Jacob Messer, Talon Weaver, Derek Messer, and Gavin Weaver; brother James (Bubba) Martin and wife Carolyn of Nederland TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Suellen was a Licensed Vocational Nurse serving in several nursing homes and home health services. She taught nurse aide classes giving many a way to support themselves. She retired from Silsbee Oaks Nursing home as the Assistant Director of Nurses.

Suellen and her husband called Silsbee – Beaumont area home but spent a couple of years in Kuwait. After returning from Kuwait they became full time RVers living in many different cities in many different states before returning to Silsbee to live out their years. They enjoyed traveling abroad and across the United States.

In recent years Suellen and Houston joined Southeast Texas Dulcimer Friends after learning to play the dulcimer. She enjoyed playing her instrument and it didn’t take much prompting for her to get it out and play for anyone. She also enjoyed teaching others to play, giving them the basics to play many songs. Many evenings were spent around the fire pit in the back yard with her playing tunes for us to sing along to. Suellen was very active in Southeast Texas Dulcimer Friends playing concerts in nursing homes, for school children, and dressing up in her old timey dress and performing in festivals.

Suellen accepted Jesus as her savior as a child and served her Lord as church secretary for many years at Faith Family Ministries Baptist Church in Silsbee TX. She often organized get-togethers and fellowships, and always participated in Vacation Bible School.

She touched many lives throughout her lifetime. Her go-get-em attitude and smile was something that always left a long-lasting impression on everyone she came into contact with. Suellen will be greatly missed by her family and many, many friends.
