1943 - 2017
Charles “Chuck” William Whisman, 73, of Huntington, WV went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2017 at the Emogene Doline Jones Hospice House. He was born on December 27, 1943 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Chester Whisman and Clotine Whisman. Chuck served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Owens Illinois for 18 years and for The American Red Cross for 16 years. He was a member of Oasis Christian Church of Barboursville, WV. Chuck had a servant’s heart and volunteered his time and talents at Oasis Christen Church, The American Red Cross, and the food bank of Beverly Hills United Methodist Church. He also collected aluminum can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, box tops for education for local schools and would help deliver food to the Huntington City Mission from time to time. He was a celebrated competitive swimmer in his youth and enjoyed bowling and golf. He was an avid UK basketball fan. Most importantly, he had a strong love and devotion to the Lord. He is survived by 2 brothers Chester (Carolyn) Whisman of Winder, GA and Woodrow Whisman of Talladega, AL; 2 children Chad Whisman of Defuniak Springs, FL and Kristine Whisman of Panama City, FL and 5 grandchildren Tyree Ceasar (Kristine); Chad Whisman Jr, Charles Whisman, Elisea Whisman and Nicholas Whisman (Chad); Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends. Interment Service will be at 2pm on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Oasis Christian Church in Barboursville, WV at 11am on Saturday, September 30, 2017. A reception will follow immediately after the Memorial Service. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Oasis Christian Church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
