Danny was born July 30, 1925 in Huntington, one of 12 children of the late George F. and Oddie Holland Clark. He graduated from Barboursville High School in 1944 and then enlisted in the Navy. After his tour of duty ended, he returned home and played football at Marshall College under Coach Cam Henderson. Clark's hobbies include: fishing at Kelley's Island, OH, beekeeping, hunting, gardening, and raising beagles as hunting dogs. I ran track under Coach Clark in the mid 50's at HEHS. My favorite story about him came from a previous football opponent I met many years later. He said that he played opposite Clark in one game. The first snap by Marshall, Clark came across the line and knocked him on his kister. The play went to the opposite side. The second snap, he got brutally knocked on his kister again. The play went to the opposite side. He said he didn't know where the play went on subsequent plays, as his only concern was surviving, but he did remember that the last hit was as hard as the first. This guy probably had 6" and 59 lbs on Coach. I told Coach about the fellow's remarks, and his comment was "I did like to hit". R.I.P. Coach. There will never be another like him.

When I was going to Huntington East back in the sixties, Danny was my driver's ed instructor. In the 70's he taught my mother, Betty Price to drive. My husband and I had the pleasure of getting together with Danny through Sandy Stone. I even recall him giving me a recipe called English Toffee Crunch Cake (I think). Your father, grandfather was a dignified and a true gentleman. May his memory be eternal. We are sorry for your loss.

Brenda,Greg & Stephen. So so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. He was such a memorable influence on so many young lives, ours included. I'm sorry that we wont be able to attend the visitation or services but I have games to officiate at both times and knowing your dad, he'd tell me, "Son you go do that!" Our condolences to you all. may your father rest in peace.

Coach Clark had a major impact on me as an athlete, but even more as a man. After his track practices and the rigors of "special gym," basic training in the Army was a piece of cake!

I loved to run into cousin Danny (I'm one of Winalee's twins) at the Central Office, in town or up at the farm while he was running his dogs because he always had a smile and funny story to tell. It is clear that he made the most of his 92 years. He had a way of making others feel important and that he cared about them. I was shocked to learn of his passing. He just seemed immortal, I guess.

He was truly a "gentle giant". So, so sorry for your loss. He was always so kind but firm. He was my driver's education teacher in 1965 at HEHS and if you ran a stop sign he would pinch you on your right arm and then make you sign your name in very small print on the edge of that stop sign. We certainly will miss him at the 1963 class reunions. He has left all of us with many happy memories. May he rest in peace. Lexa & "Skip" Carr

I met Coach Clark in the fall of 1965 at HEHS. He was in charge of the 6th period gym class for all athletes. I ran hurdles & sprints on the track team he coached for 3 years. He worked us hard but was always fair and I have fond memories of him and those years. I lived in East Pea Ridge after College and bumped into him one day as he was walking along East Drive. We had a nice reunion that morning. Please accept my condolences on his passing.
