Emma Lee Hicks, 83, of Ashland, died peacefully, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at her residence.
She was born February 16, 1934, in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late John Andrew and Rose Belle Smith Greene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, John G. Greene, Ernest O. Greene and Jack Stambaugh; and two sisters, Sophia E. Greene and Veronica R. Burnette.
Emma worked for the Daily Independent for 15 years delivering papers throughout Greenup County. She retired as a cashier from Walmart after many years of service. She was a Christian and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristin S. Jones of Ashland; sons, Michael W. Hicks of Missouri, Mark W. Hicks of Walls, Mississippi, and J. Matthew Hicks of Greenup, KY; sisters, Harriet Robinson of Lexington, KY, and Phyllis Mays of Ashland; sisters-in-law, Clara M. Greene of Catlettsburg, Nellie Crisp of Ashland, and Anna Stambaugh of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Emma's life will be at a later date.
