James Theodore  Welch Jr.James Theodore “Ted” Welch, Jr., 74, of Culloden, WV passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born October 21,1943 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late James Theodore Welch, Sr. and Doris E. Johnson Welch. He was a HEHS Class of 1961 graduate and served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Grand Forks, ND and served overseas in Turkey. In 1972 he returned to Huntington from Minnesota to learn the upholstery trade and opened Welch Brothers Upholstery where he worked alongside his brother Joe Welch for 40 years until their retirement in 2012. He was a member of the Kenova American Legion Post #93 where he enjoyed Monday afternoon lunches with his family. He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Welch and daughter-in-law, Crystal Welch of Huntington, WV, and one grandson, Nathan J. Welch also of Huntington. Siblings include Joe E. Welch and wife Bonnie of Culloden, WV, Connie Walls, Terry L. Welch and wife Kathy, and Jack Welch and wife Susan all of Huntington, WV. Nephew and nieces include Stacey Welch, Carol Morrison, Jennifer Welch, Megan Welch, and Robyn Welch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington P.O. Box 464 Huntington, WV 25709. The family would like to express their gratitude to his friends at the VA Medical Center, HIMG, and St. Mary’s Hospital for the love and care Ted received during his illness. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 12 p.m. at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar. Received this news with great sadness, Ted and Joe's shop was beside our home for many years and they were wonderful neighbors. We shared a lot of laughs together. He will be greatly missed.
