James Marvin Carter, 85, of Scottown, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Abbyshire Place, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born December 13, 1932 in Memphis, TN son of the late James L and Clara Maples Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Easter Spangler Carter; two sons James Carter and Bill Cook; one daughter Teresa White; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by one son Austin Davenport of Huntington, WV; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law Barbara Cook of Scottown, Ohio. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served in the Korean War as well as a retired Riverboat Captain. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio.
