Samuel L. Morrison, 82, of Ashland, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Ashland, a son of the late Orville and Sarah Jordan Morrison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Wayne Morrison.

Samuel was a member of Grandview Church of God. He served in the Army National Guard and retired from A.K. Steel after many years of service.

Although he enjoyed U.K. basketball and genealogy, Samuel most enjoyed spending time with his family. He will long be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Conley Morrison of Ashland; a son, Samuel "Lee" Morrison (Ronda) of Flatwoods; two daughters, Nancy Griffith (David) of Flatwoods and Susan Bell (Reynolds) of Lexington; two sisters, Darlene Lowe (Manuel) and Jeanelle Roberts (James) of Ashland; four grandchildren, Tyler Morrison, Benjamin Davis, Kendall Griffith and Zachary Griffith.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with words of comfort by Pastor Trey Parsons and Pastor Danny Goins. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Samuels' memory may be made to Grandview Church of God or the American Heart Association.
