Delma Handloser, 84, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in Community Hospice Care Center.
She was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Rev. Homer Bowen and Florence Gilbert Bowen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Handloser in 1993; brothers, Marco, Loren, Bill and Homer Bowen; and sisters, Irlena Thompson, Lois Harris and Vivian Defoe.
Del was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a nurse at King's Daughters Medical Center and at nursing homes in Venice and Northport, Fla. She did private duty nursing for many years.
She was a regular blood donor for American Red Cross and volunteered for many years in the ICU at King's Daughters Medical Center.
Del is survived by two sons, Mark G. Handloser and wife Sylvia of Boyd County and Arthur G. Handloser and wife Linda of Ashland; a daughter, Sally Vandewalker and husband LaVern Ackley of Binghamton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Nathanael Handloser of Ashland, Patrick Hodgeman of Bluebell, Penn., and Khristine, Monica and Steve Hodgeman, all of Binghamton, N.Y.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Joed Rice officiating. A private burial service will be Tuesday in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
