William Douglas “Doug” Hankins, age 74, of Huntington, passed away on April 16, 2018, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. He was born in Huntington on October 31, 1943. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mark L. Hankins and Mary Jane Hankins and a brother, James W. Hankins. Mr. Hankins is survived by his loving wife Marcia Thornburg Hankins, son Mark Hankins (Teresa) and stepchildren, Mike Noel (Stephanie) of Huntington, Jamie Noel of Barboursville, WV, nine grandchildren, sister Jane Smith (Kirby) of Gloucester, VA and brother John Hankins (Mitzie) of Huntington, nephews Chris Hankins (Michele) and Joel Hankins (Emily) of Huntington, Geoff Smick (Carey) of San Francisco, CA and nieces Andrea Hankins of Huntington, Kimberly Scott (Wayne) of Indianapolis, IN and Kristen New (Jimmy) of Atlanta, GA. After serving in the Air Force, he was employed at the CSX Railroad Shops in Huntington until his retirement. He had an outgoing personality and his friends and fellow employees referred to him as “Wild Bill.” Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel in Barboursville, W.Va. by Tom Wilson. Visitation will be one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV, 25702.
