1947 - 2018
Billy D. Jarrell, Sr., 70, of Proctorville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018 following a short but courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends. Bill was born on August 1, 1947 in Huntington, WV, the first son of three to the late Tivis and Mary Jarrell. Also preceding him in death was a brother Ernie Jarrell; two grandchildren Kayla Jarrell and Justin Rakes; and one son-in-law Robert Rakes. He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years Violet Jarrell; four children Billy (Melissa) Jarrell of Proctorville, Ohio, Mary (Larry) Hudson of Sykesville, MD, Sharon Rakes of Ranger, WV and Clarence (Tonya) Jarrell of Rittman, Ohio; one nephew he raised as his own Paul Porter; one brother Mike Jarrell also of Proctorville, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Adam, Sherry, Destiny, Melandie, Breanna, Chloe, Austin, and Michael; eight grandchildren Kevin, Gabriel, Bryson, Jace, Aubrey, Brook, Landen, and Kinsley. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Bill proudly fought for our country. He was a Vietnam Veteran from the U.S. Army 23rd Infantry. He retired early from St. Mary’s Medical Center due to medical reasons and was a member of the Community Chapel Church. He enjoyed camping, playing with his grandkids and spending time with his family and friends. He loved to make people laugh and was always there when someone needed him. To his family and friends he was our hero and our rock. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Carl Black and Pastor Jason Adams officiating with burial to follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. The family extends a special thanks to Carl Black, Jason Adams and Archey Meadows who stayed by his bedside during his final hours and comforted his family during this difficult time.
